A number of hotels are offering rooms to rent during the day at a reduced price, which should appeal to the business travelers who wish to catch up on sleep for a few hours. For example, Belgian company between9and5.com operates in over 50 countries worldwide, on five continents, offering day rooms in hotels rated between two and five stars.
Travelers can check in and out between 8 am and 7 pm, and the company claims to offer up to 70% off its lowest overnight rates during the day. Dayuse.com, which markets itself as the leader in the field, offers a similar service for day rooms available between 9 am and 5 pm at up to 75% off of overnight rates. Other day-stays sites include roomforaday.com and soroom-hotel.com.
As a savvy traveler, this gives me an idea. Some reward programs require you to spend a minimum of 10 nights to get an upgrade in status, So If I spend 10 trips for a few hours, does that count?
