Travel for some is a pleasure, for others, it can be a nightmare. There are different types of travel. There is solo travel, couples travel, family travel, work-based travel and adventure travel. However you travel, there is one thing that’s sure, a credit card comes in handy. The American Express Platinum card is a travelers dream. Many times, I’ve heard that it carries a hefty fee but I always respond with, "if you know how to maximize the card the fee will be the least of your problems." Here is a list of ways to maximize your American Express Platinum Card.

Sign Up Bonus: The current sign-up bonus for the American Express Platinum card is 40,000 American Express points after spending $3000 dollars. This is pretty lucrative and worth $400.

No Foreign Transaction Fees: Being able to use your card anywhere in the world is a great feeling. You spend less time worrying about fees and more time enjoying your vacation.

Gold Status: Not only can you upgrade to Gold Status in the Starwood Preferred Guest Program without the spending requirement but you also get Hiltons Gold Status. A win-win for us that love these two hotel groups. (And Marriott Hotel since its merger with Starwood)

Free Wi-Fi: Card members enjoy complimentary access to the Boingo American Expressed preferred plan. This gives free wifi hotspots where available. If you have this card but have not yet activated this feature, please click here.

Expedited Service: The American Express Platinum card reimburses your choice of Global Entry($100 Value) and TSA-Pre-check ($85 Value). Both programs aid in travel and are great programs to be a part of.

Centurion Lounges: By far the most comfortable and well-designed lounges I have ever seen. If you are traveling from these five airports: LGA, MIA, DSW, SFO, and LVS, please treat yourself immediately. If I’m flying domestically, ill pick LaGuardia just for the chance to visit these lounges, they are that good. (more locations coming)

The $200 airline credit: We all hate to pay baggage fees, last minute booking fees and any other fees associated with flying. If you have a particular airline you often use, why not sign up for this feature, you won't regret it. Click here.

Head over to American Express to find out what else your Platinum card could do for you, it does wonders for me.
