Best places to visit in Italy

Updated: Sep 7, 2019

Home to nearly 61 million people, Italy has so much to offer. From amazing gelato’s to some of the best spaghetti and meatballs you're going to ever have, it is a food lovers dream.

It also has something for every type of traveler and one of the places that should be on your bucket list. Here are a few of my favorite places to visit in Italy:

Venice

Venice is The first Italian city I visited. My favorite place is in San Marco Square, home of the Basilica de San Marco. It has a never-ending supply of rich history and amazing architecture.

Must do: Take a ride from San Marco to Murano on the AliLaguna. You get to be on the water and visit another popular island in Venice, for the fraction of a gondola ride.

Pisa

Known for the leaning tower of Pisa, (the city Cathedrals bell tower) the town is a great spot for a day tour.

Must do: Take a walking tour of Knight's Square. You learn of the origins of Pisa and the neighboring buildings that surround it.

Pompeii

Overlooked by Vesavius, their active volcano, the town is filled with ancient ruins, sanctuaries and so much more.

Must do: Learn ancient history in Villa of the Mysteries.

Vatican City

If the Sistine Chapel isn’t enough of a draw, then the opportunity to see the Pope is. Located a half an hour from Rome, this is the place you don’t want to miss.

Must do: (Do I really have to say this?)

Rome

My unofficial name for Rome is the city of the Spanish steps, it’s what stood out the most on my visit. However, it is rather unfair to say that due to its archeological wonders that it houses, for example, the Coliseum and the Forum. It's also a very pretty city at night.

Whats your favorite Italian City?
