I arrived in Hong Kong and was immediately awed. Although under construction, the airport was one of the most beautiful airports i'd seen and from the plane you could see an outdoor viewing point i'd hope to use in the future. Made my way to the pick up point and called myself an Uber. I quickly realized Hong Kong was different to mainland China in many ways when I had to go through a verification for the Didi app upon landing possible due to the change from Chinese Yuan to Hong Kong Dollar. Whatever the reason, I found Ubers easier to use.

Arrived at the Langham Hotel in Kowloon and quickly settled into my room. The first mission was food and what better way to secure that than the onsite Michelin star Tsim Sha Tsui. I ordered a few courses but I could say without a doubt it ranked pretty high on my best meals in the city. The next day started at the pool, a hidden oasis, nestled away from the city but hidden in plane sight. From there, I walked the Kowloon Public Pier to watch the boats and attractions on the square. I pretty muched walked from the clocktower to the Bruce Lee statue before dissapearing in the many streets. I secured some Hong Kong dollars to buy an Octopus Card and was on my way.

I took the train to the Kong Kong side to Central. From there I visited the park and spent some time at the old French mission building, where there is a churched and a quaint second hand market on selective days. All this was on my way to the Victoria PeakTram. The tram offers once of the best experiences in the city and the trip to the top was nothing short of amazing. You disembark to some of the best views of Hong Kong. You get out into a souvenir shop but pretty much have options of places to visit from malls, hiking trails and a garden. I stop at Asam Chicken Rice to try Hainanese chicken. I was expanded my pallet to the different cuisines available. From there, I walked off the meal through Queen Victoria's garden.
I then made my way back to Kowloon to have afternoon tea at my hotel. I'd never had afternoon tea before so I was up for the exposure. It was a great experience and once that I look forward to trying again on an empty stomach. I opted just for a cheese cake and coffee in an effort not to waste food. Then I did the only responsible thing to do in Hong Kong and that was to shop. The city has no shortages of malls and designer brands and I needed a few things anyways. I tend to travel light on clothes and add local items to the wardrobe to remember the trip by. After all that I headed over to the harbor for the evening light show. I've seen a light show in Singapore but this was far more detailed and featured the buildings instead of lights. The entire skyline lit up to an impressive musicl medley. I could not have asked for anything better.

The next day began my long journey home. Taking the taxi to the airport and traveling through Taiwan before returning home. This was my first exposure to China and I guarantee it won't be my last.
