Sofia, Bulgaria

I flew into Sophia and one of the first things you see is a cathedral from the sky. Not sure what I was looking at but I would soon find out. I got picked up at the airport by my hotel, the Hyatt Regency Sophia. After what I went through in Belgrade, I was avoiding public transportation at all cost.
My hotel was actually close to the catherdral and I walked by it on the way to my walking tour. My walking tour started on the other side of town and came back in my direction, which was perfect. We spent the next three hours soaking up the history of Bulgaria, from the wars, to its inhabitants and cultures. We even managed a stop to the Royal Palace.
The final stop was that Saint Alexander Nevsky Cathedral that I saw so many times but didn't know what I was lookign at. I then had dinner on the rooftop of the Hyatt. Normally it has some of the best views in Sophia but the rain limited the view on this night.

Before I knew it, I was back at the airport leaving Bulgaria and preparing for what came next. I was heading back to Belgrade but having experienced Sofia, I'm glad I took the time to visit, even if it was less than 24 hours.
