What a way to start the New Year, South African Airways in South Africa. I was on my way to Durban, a place I’d only heard about a few weeks before.

The city seemed to be the perfect connection point into Lesotho. I took the short hour long flight down to the coastal town and was truly amazed. Durban is a beautiful place and for surfers especially, it’s heaven.

I stayed in uMhlanga at the Hotel Fire and Ice, a Marriott property. To say the rooms were spacious would be an understatement as my room spanned two floors.  This was the part of the trip I earmarked for rest so, I figured what better way to do it than by the pool. After dinner I walked across the street to the mall to see what shopping looked like in the area.

The next day my driver came to pick me up in the 4x4for the Lesotho Sanipass 4x4 tour. One of the more adventurous things I’ve done.  That was a full day event so the only thing I was able to do after that is enjoy drinks poolside before rest.

With time dwindling down on my time In Durban I tried to do a few local activities before I left. I was head to the beach in Durban City. After wards I headed back to uMhlanga to do uMhlanga Rocks. In my opinion uMhlanga is the better preserved area of town as it’s a bit more comforting.

The final thing was to take an Uber back to the airport for another South African Adventure. Durban was really nice and I really wish I could have gotten one of those large surfboards. We all know it would be for decoration but it was cool non the less.
