Got the opportunity to visit Houston over the weekend and although different from my normal trips, I quite enjoyed the stay. Typically when I travel I have a set itinerary but this one was pretty much up in the air. Had a few things I wanted to see in the city but for the most part it was just a weekend to get away.

I redeemed 10K Advantage miles for the one way via DCA in Washington DC and did the return on United for 19K Milageplus miles. The trips weren't bad but this took place during the FAA flight reduction so you could imagine the headaches I had getting to and from each destination. Got in later than expected but was able to check into my hotel and immediately called it a night.

The next day I woke up to the view of the city. Breakfast was the first task. I hadn't paid for breakfast but went downstairs to the Maven Coffee Company for a croissant and a matcha. Hotel guests of the Thompson hotel get a discount on premises by showing your room key.

I then took the hotel shuttle over to Trill Burger to see the hype on the burgers. They did not dissapoint. From there I headed over to A Ma Maniere. Outside of travel, sneakers is also a passion of mine and I tend to go sneaker shopping in different cities and being here was a great experience. I then headed downtown to the Galleria mall to shoe shop once more at Shoe Palace and to try a Houston institution in Joey Uptown.

The night ended back at the hotel where I had drinks at Chardon. They sent a carepackage to my room earlier and I promised i'd come down to visit. The next day was coffee again at Maven Coffee company followed by bikeriding in Buffalo Bayou Park. Free bikes were included in the stay and I took full advantage of it.

Houston is a nice city and the little I got to see intrigued me to visit again in the future. Until next time!
