As the clock struck 8:25 am, I arrived in the hotel lobby to await my driver. As luck would have it, I got an email the day prior to be in the lobby at 8:20 and of course I missed that. Better late than never!
After a breif introduction we were off. I had the van to myself for maybe five minutes before doing the remainding pick ups. We then took the two hour ride to Ljubljana from Zagreb. Once we arrived, we were let out by Dragon Bridge so Damian could find parking. We then began our walking tour of Slovenia's capital.
Thre start of the tour was an outdoor farmers market, said to be one of the first of its kind. It's open daily but a bit light on Sundays. As much as I would love to share history here, I can't begin to pronounce the names so i'd say google Ljubjliana- Plecnikpve Trznice and the surroundign area. It has a lot to offer in terms of history but sadly the only thing I can pronounce is Butchers Bridge.

From there we moved to the Cathedral of St. Nicholas (Stolnica Sv.Niolaja) to view the art work on the door and learn of the history of the church and its prominance in the country. We then walked the main street to talk country and politics. Gostilna Sokol is on this street if you have a hankering for Slovenian food and once of the places i'd recommend for authentic foods.
A post meal exercise was the climb to the Castle of St George. Their is a vewing tower that offers one of the two best views in the city. From being up high to back on the ground, soak up the atmosphere of the Triple Bridge. Avoid any offers of board rides here one because you aren't really seeing anything and two this is a tourist scam. (You've been warned) The area boasts some of the cities best monuments. The Preseren Monument, thats sits across from the window of his love (look it up) and the Franciscan Church of Annunciation. You also see the italian influence in the buildings in the area.

We then split up and had two hours to roam. Tried my best to enjoy it but it was way too cold. I was underdressed for the occasion and was really trying my best to enjoy it. Finally I got to the Nebotocmik building to have panoramic cities views and a warm cup of hot chocolate. This is the best view of the city in my opinion and its one that can't be missed.

From there it was a thirty minute ride to Lake Bled. We arrived at the lake and took boats to the church on the water. A calm fifteen minute ride rewarded by picturesque views from the water. There is a church on the island as well as a snacket for beers and snacks. You pay on your way back to the start of the boat tour. It's 18 Euro and you can only pay in cash.

The final leg of the tour is a two hour stop to Castle Bled. Here you can try a vast array of honey, food and famous cakes that originated in the area. You also have uninterrupted views of Lake Bled.
Althtough the tour was short, it gave me great insight into Lake Bled and what life is in the surrounding areas. Hiking and camping is big here and the town is small and walkable. I would advise to come in the summer months, the weather is better but it's also packed.
