Museumsplatz
Museumsplatz

Who would have thought, back in Vienna. If I am comparing the two trips, I think this one is much better than its predecessor but you can be the judge.

Last time I was here, I slept in a bit and went out in the end to make up for lost time. I was on the tail end of a wild European getaway and I just cranked out on the last stop.

This time, I flew in from Dubrovnik.  I came in early enough and caught an uber to the city. It was quick and seamless and is a great option when in Vienna. The only thing to remember is Ubers don’t stop at the arrivals lounge so you need to take the escalator upstairs to get the uber in departures.

Last time I came to the city, I came via train from Prague so this was the first time using the airport and also driving into the city. The hotel for the trip was the Hoxton Vienna. Great location, close to trains and parks, etc but I was not staying. I dropped off my bag and went to breakfast at Offerl because it’s the best place to get breakfast in Vienna and then took another taxi to Vienna Central Station. On this day, I’d be spending it in Bratislava.

The next day, I had to do a repeat on Offerl and try something else as it was that good. Got a few museums out of the way before ending up at Maria Theresien-Platz for a Christmas market. Something about November in Europe and the markets are out to try all local cuisines as well as the ones of those that migrated. The last thing I had to cross of was dinner at Lugeck Restaurant for traditional food. It did not disappoint.

I felt on this trip I got more of the history of the city, walked a bit more and saw more interesting places I might have missed on the last trip. The former center of the Hungarian Empire has a lot to offer, don't sleep on it like I did.
